How the questions are made and checked
The standard every question has to pass
A practice question is only useful if the answer is right and the explanation teaches something. Both have to be true at the same time, and both are checked before a question ships.
Every question is written for this site
No official College Board questions are reproduced here. Every question is an original work written for Syntene Learn, with its own wording, its own numbers and its own explanation. SAT is a trademark of College Board. Syntene Learn is not affiliated with or endorsed by College Board.
How a question is written
- One skill per question, so a wrong answer points at one thing to review.
- One decision, not a chain of chores. The hard part of a question should be the idea, not the arithmetic.
- Wrong answers that come from real mistakes, not random numbers.
- An explanation that shows the steps instead of describing them.
- A note on the slip that usually costs the mark, written next to the solution.
What every question has to pass before it ships
- The answer key has to agree with the worked explanation, and both have to agree with the question.
- Every figure has to put each labelled point where the label says it is: an intercept drawn off its own axis is a failed question, not a cosmetic one.
- Arithmetic that depends on a calculator is evaluated by a script, not by eye, so a rounded decimal cannot hide a wrong answer.
- The answer choices are checked for balance, so one option cannot be found by shape or length alone.
- Copy and claims are checked against a list of things we will not say: no invented statistics, no score promises, no marketing language.
- The reference sheet is frozen to the exact file that ships, so the sheet in the app and the sheet in a guide cannot drift apart.
- The hint has to move a student forward without giving the answer away, and it has to agree with the solution.
What the practice estimate is
The estimate after a timed module comes from your answers in that module. It is a practice estimate, not a prediction of your SAT score. The short baseline check reports which areas cost you the most answers and deliberately prints no score, because a score from a handful of questions would be noise.
Corrections
Every question has a report control. Reports are read, the question is rechecked against the standard above, and the fix ships in the next build. If a question cannot be made right, it is removed rather than left in the bank.
What this site does not do
- No ads and no third-party tracking.
- No account needed to practise. An account is optional and only carries progress between devices.
- No official test questions, and no claim of affiliation with College Board.
